How to send a parcel to Tbilisi
Flights to Georgia run daily, and many people drive through the Upper Lars crossing — so there are both air travelers for documents and drivers who can take a bigger box.
Plane or car
By plane it is fast: documents, medicines and small items reach Tbilisi the same day. The only limit is space in the traveler’s luggage.
By car it takes longer (the road and the border queue), but you can send something bulky — a stroller, a box of clothes, appliances. Look for drivers on the Moscow — Tbilisi route.
How to agree
- Describe the parcel honestly: size, weight, contents.
- Agree on meeting points on both ends — Tbilisi, Batumi or on the way.
- Discuss the price upfront.
The border
Medicines with narcotic or psychotropic substances need a prescription. Many identical items may be treated as goods for sale and taxed — discuss it with the driver in advance. Current Georgian customs rules: IATA Travel Centre.
Safety
Nothing sealed, money in person, get to know each other first. A driver answers for everything in the trunk, so they may inspect every box. More in Safety.
