How to send a parcel to Dubai with a traveler

Tourists and residents fly to Dubai all the time, so there are travelers on this route almost every week — documents and small items arrive in a day or two.

What people usually send to the UAE

Documents and powers of attorney, bank cards, keys, medicines (with caveats below), kids’ clothes and gifts. Anything that fits in hand luggage is easiest to place.

How to find a traveler

Medicines: the key UAE rule

The UAE is one of the strictest countries for medicines. Drugs with codeine, tramadol and many sleeping pills and sedatives are banned or need a permit from the UAE health ministry. For the person carrying them this is a criminal matter, not a fine.

The sender checks the ingredients against the UAE controlled substances list in advance.
The traveler takes medicines only in original packaging and may ask for the prescription.
In doubt — decline.
